Running has given me the courage to start, the determination to keep trying, and the childlike spirit to have fun along the way. Run often and run long, but never outrun your joy of running. -Julie Isphording, Marathon winner

Three days
Really losing it today. Which frustrates me. I've done this enough now that I shouldn't get like this. I'm going to go drink some tension tamer tea now. That is all.

Four Days
Taper since the 20 miler has been pretty good, but my taper tantrum has arrived right on time. I'm crabby, irritable, and ready to run. Let's go already.
Despite the whiny tone of this post, however, I do feel I'm mentally in a better place than I was for my two previous attempts at 26.2. I plan on lining up with the four hour pace group. Yes, I said it. I am officially and admittedly going for the sub-four this time. We'll see what happens...

Gross Shoes
When I buy shoes, I buy based on feel, fit, cushion, etc. Appearance is a non-factor. If you don't believe me, take a look at my new kicks:
Um, yeah... they're Carolina blue. This pains me to no end, as it would any self-respecting KU basketball fan. These are good for my soles, but bad for my soul. I feel like I need to go to confession or something. Which is really weird, seeing as I'm not Catholic.

Solomon Autumn Trail Series
I took part in the Solomon Autumn Trail Series last night. It was a great little event, and my first ever trail race. I'm not ready to give up on asphalt, but it was a nice change of pace from running around the lakes. The scenery was absolutely beautiful, and I'm sure will be even more so when I go back for more on 11/12!
A brief report of my run can be seen on DM.

Twenty Miles
I'm training for my third marathon, thus this marks the third time I've done a 20 miler. I can't believe I'm saying this, but they do actually get easier. That being said, I'm two days past this endeavor, and I'm pooped. Lots of reasons, but the point I'd like to take away from this one is that I need to drink more water after these monster runs. Lots more.

Japanese Chili Ramen from Pei Wei
I had this for dessert:
These are the days I LOVE distance running. Yummy in my tummy. Bring on the 20 miler!!
